AlimenTERRE Festival
The AlimenTERRE Festival is an international event that aims to inform, raise awareness, and mobilize people around the world on major agricultural and food issues. An initiative of Humundi (formerly SOS Faim Belgium) since 2007, the festival uses documentary films to foster reflection, stimulate public debate, and encourage civic action.
Each year, a selection of films addresses major issues such as pesticides, land use, GMOs, biodiversity, agroforestry, and migration.
Held on several continents—including Europe, Africa, and Latin America—since 2012, the festival is aimed at a broad audience: young people, teachers, agriculture and food industry professionals, the media, policymakers, and others.
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the AlimenTERRE Festival is part of an effort to advocate for and raise awareness about sustainable family farming. It pursues the following objectives:
- To promote active global citizenship by highlighting local initiatives to combat rural poverty and promote food security;
- Raise awareness among the public and decision-makers about the urgent need to support fair and environmentally friendly agriculture, driven by family farms.
